Testimony, Robbie Robertson

Pleasantly surprised with this one. Robbie is one of the better musician writers out there. He was smart with this autobiography-- he wrote about his life up to the last performance of his band, ‘The Band’ and the seminal doc “The Last Waltz.” Great stories of him with Bob Dylan, writing and touring together; the band members through the years dealing with drugs and alcohol; his meetings with other famous musicians like Hendrix and Joni Mitchell. He goes off the humble trail every now and again as he describes every recommendation and collaboration he made to other musicians as pieces of gold that they all accepted/used. But you got to give that pass to a very eloquent and original songwriter and storyteller. The Band changed the way music was thought of… such a unique sound… original, all it’s own.
