NEPAL FIRST ASCENTS 2016
NO ROPES, NO PARTNER, NO TURNING BACK
Sean Burch was on a quest for his 8th world record by first exploring previously unexplored regions and mountains of the Chandi Himal in far Western Nepal; and then attempting to summit the most previously unclimbed Himalayan mountains in the history of Nepal by way of First Ascent and First Solo Ascents (FSA).
This expedition, two years in development, involved working
with the Ministry of Tourism, government and private entities,
meeting required regulations, and Burch’s insistence of
indigenous logistical support staff be used in order for this
expedition to occur.
NEPAL 2016: DETAILS
Burch climbed in the Humla District within Western Nepal, and partnered with the nonprofit Nepal Trust organization. His logistic
crew was local, and indigenous support staff.
The expedition was carefully planned and managed to support Burch’s and Nepal Trust’s social and ecological goals in the
remotest district of Nepal: In Support of Children and Women Health Care in the Hidden Himalaya.
